University Rankings

How they are calculated and how to use them

Our ranking's mission is to provide a convenient tool for comparing universities with each other.

We were applicants and know how much time it takes to find which universities have interesting specialties, learn which faculties they are in, and somehow compare them with each other!

That's why we created this tool to simplify life for applicants!

It's not just a rating!

It's a convenient way to find universities by parameters: field, specialty, region, budget/contract.

We tried to make the most convenient tool so that you can quickly see:

It's just a rating!

Of course, this rating should not be the only criterion in choosing your future path!

Our rating shows the average level of preparation of applicants who were admitted to this university, this faculty, or this specialty.

Our assumption is that if applicants with high test scores enter this university or specialty, then perhaps they teach well here and smart students study here.

We don't want to impose our opinion, but encourage you to make your choice independently and consciously, based on the maximum number of sources of information.

Read official sources (university websites and media), read unofficial sources of information (for example, student chats and channels), ask friends and acquaintances, talk to our student volunteers and be critical of every opinion, because it's subjective!

We created StudSearch specifically so that applicants have more independent sources of information about the quality of education in Ukraine <love/>

How is the rating calculated?

The rating is based on EDEBO data about the 2024 admission campaign.

We focused on the level of preparation of applicants who were admitted to the relevant specialties.

The rating is calculated based on the average competitive score for the specialty, weighted by the proportion of admitted applicants to it in the total number of applicants admitted to this institution.

For example, at an institution in the field of Information Technology there are only two specialties:<br/>20 applicants were admitted to the first one, the average competitive score is 140.<br/>80 applicants were admitted to the second one, the average competitive score is 190.

If we calculate the arithmetic mean, we get (140 + 190) / 2 = 165 points. However, this number will not describe well enough the level of preparation of applicants who entered this institution.

Our approach is to find the weighted average competitive score of entrants.<br/>To do this, we multiply the average score of the specialty by the share of entrants to it, from the total number of entrants to this institution. The calculations take into account only the scores of applicants who were admitted to a specific competitive position.

In our example: (140 * 0.2) + (190 * 0.8) = 180 points.
